Membership & Training

Training

Club sessions are on weekday evenings and Sunday mornings at our clubhouse on Eastbourne seafront. In the Summer months, sessions are predominantly on the sea, however, we always have an indoor alternative available. In the Winter, training tends to be a mixture of indoor training (‘erging’ on rowing machines, circuit training, strength and conditioning and stretching) and outdoor training on the river at Wallers Haven focused on rowing techniques and technical drills.

Social

We recognise our responsibility in providing a community safe space, and how the camaraderie and support provided by our members to help others achieve their goals, provides huge benefits in both physical and mental health.

The club runs monthly social activities throughout the year which all members are welcome to attend, including BBQs, evening events & day trips.

Membership

For those wishing to try rowing, we offer the chance to come down to the club for a pre-arranged taster session on Tuesday or Thursday 18:00 - 19:30.

Risk assessing Sessions

In the warmer months, a dynamic risk assessment will be carried out at the start of each session by an appointed and competent session leader in order to assess water and weather conditions for the duration of the session, and the competency of members attending.

Induction

Individuals must complete a safety form at their first session and again when signing up for membership, all members are given a safety briefing in their first session. If members are under the age of 18, we ask a parent to stay for the session and also request they complete the induction form. Our session leaders are all DBS checked appropriately.
